Steve, Hazel and myself went exploring on Tuesday. We started from the recreational field in Bampton and walked a mile of one of the regular walks, then made our way to Rushey Lock. This lock can also be accessed from Tadpole Bridge. This lead us along the meandering river to “Old Man’s Bridge” which is adjacent to Radcot Lock. Continuing over a number of fields and lanes we made our way back to the Weald Road and then back to Bampton. It was a peaceful walk until we were near to Radcot Lock where we saw a group of egrets, curlews, a flock of starlings, tree sparrows, and a buzzard. The walk was enjoyable, terrain flat and even, one faulty stile, just over 6 miles.
