Cycle Ride 29th January 2019

Our normal cycle ride should have been on 1st January (New Year’s Day) we decided to use the 5th Tuesday to make sure we had a ride in January.  It was quite a long ride of approx 13 miles on a cold morning, but we were all well wrapped up.  Our route took us from the Town centre towards Alvescot, then where the road splits between Alvescot/Lechlade we took the Lechlade Road and turned almost immediately right again.  This road goes to Shilton; we took Hen and Chick Lane to the A361 and turned left for approximately 1 mile. From here we rode on the old airfield road until we reached Kencot. A choice was needed as to which way to cycle next; the decision being to ride through Alvescot and then Black Bourton, we stopped at the church to look at the snowdrops and aconites in the church yard;  and  then continued to the perimeter  track round the airfield.  Arriving back in Carterton we were beginning to feel cold so the decision was to warm up with hot beverages and toasted tea  cakes in Hacketts.  The general opinion was that it was well worth the ride even though it was cold. Our next ride is on our usual Tuesday, 5th February  (which is next week)  at 0930 from the factory shop car park.  Pam
