Cycle Ride 5th April 2022

On a bright but chilly morning four members left for a bike ride on a favourite route; this being Carterton, Alvescot, Black Bourton and then to the Bampton Garden Centre for refreshments. Our return ride was via Brize Norton. The Spring flowers in gardens and hedge rows were colourful and beautiful. It was peaceful ride until we reached Brize Norton by the runway where we could hear what sounded like gun shots. As we approached a corner we were stopped by the Police. This was for our own safety as birds nests were being blasted from the tree tops. This was to stop the birds nesting in the trees to reduce the risk of them flying into aircraft. Something that we had not seen or heard of before.

We finished our ride in the sunshine. Our next ride will be on 5th May. Pam
