September Walks

S & S Walk at Fairford Wednesday 8th September 2021

It was quite a warm afternoon when we met at Fairford for a walk round the Horcott Lakes.

There were 8 members who enjoyed the stroll over fields, lanes and pathways and then round the lakeside path. Nearby were several fishermen sat watching the world go by waiting for their line to catch a bite.  There were fine views across the lake with some ducks and swans enjoying the water.  Arriving back in the High Street several members managed to purchase an ice cream, unfortunately the car drivers missed out.  Thank you for walking.  The next S&S walk will be on Wednesday 13th October at Lechlade.

Short Walk on Tuesday 14th September 2021

Due to the bad weather we changed the venue of the walk to Blenheim Palace

It was a wet morning and it was shall we, shan’t we walk.

The decision was to walk.  It rained quite heavily while we were waiting in the car park for the arrival of our walkers.  When we reached Woodstock the rain stopped and we were able to enjoy the walk in the dry.  It was approx 3 miles of walking, part way round the lake, up to the monument, down to the bridge and up to the café at the Palace. Drinks and cakes were purchased and eaten outside sitting under a large umbrella. Afterwards it was a pleasant walk back looking down on the lake back to our cars.

Thank you to those who took a chance on the weather.   Our next short walk will be Tuesday 12th October Witney to Hailey.
