Short Walk on 9th November 2021 Stanton Park
It was simply a gorgeous morning when 15 members made their way to Stanton Park for the 3-mile walk. Stanton Park is a nature reserve with woodlands, meadows, open green space with ponds and streams
In one area an Apiary is set up and has approx 30 beehives and is managed by The Swindon HoneyBee Conservation Group.
Some brilliant wood sculptures were keeping some children amused. A rather impressive wooden merman greeted us (looked similar to Neptune). Directly behind him was the most remarkable underwater scene in a tree. A giant shark, seals, stingrays, fish all hand carved into the tree or placed on the tree.
Near to the car park is a tea-room and craft shop. Next to this is an Art gallery. Art and crafts workshops are open to the public.
After the walk coffee and cake were taken at the Stanton House Hotel.
It was great to walk in a different area and on such a lovely day.
Our next short walk will be very short as it is the u3a main meeting the same day. Pam
