Sunday my friend and I visited Stanton Woods at Stanton Fitzwarren. The drive from the road down to the woods was on a very poorly maintained track. Reaching the car park, the sky suddenly went dark and the heavens opened. Thankfully after 10 minutes sunshine resumed and we were able to enjoy our walk. The lake had swans, geese and ducks swimming on it. Throughout the woods there are a number of new carvings and they were really fascinating and well made. The paths are wide and even to walk on. They have a café which used to open three days a week but has not yet re-opened due to the virus. Stanton House Hotel serve cream teas, and there is a pathway through their gardens into the woods.
