Weekend Walking

These feet are still walking.

Friday walking was round Carterton going along paths I haven’t walked in a long time.

I think that Pat and Mike have set a challenge to see how many people will walk at Sherborne. On Saturday this is where Janice and I walked. The car park was busy and we took the last 2 spaces.   Lots of shade on this walk.  The terrain a little uneven as the pathways are being overhauled.  We saw 1 deer in the fields. The shop was open and we were able to have a take a way coffee, and Janice had a muffin.  Also, Roger and Gill walked there on Sunday. On Sunday I did a 7.5 mile walk to Asthall, Swinbrook, Widford and back over the fields behind Sturt Farm.  It was a beautiful day and the views were spectacular.  Anyone wishing to do this walk I would warn you that there are 2 very unsafe styles which I shall report to the footpath officer.  Today Henry and I did a different walk at Lechlade, 3 miles, 1 stile and flat.  Jan and Frank have been to Blenheim, here is a note from Jan for anyone wishing to go there. “We walked the Blenheim circuit path this morning (c.4 miles)  – glorious! I’m always in awe of the stupendous size of many of the trees, and some curious shapes too. We saw lots of lambs – most now quite big, and saw only a few people on that circuit. The estate looked stunning. Parked in the car park. Annual pass holders this week only, then open to everyone from this weekend. You have to go online and book a time slot for your arrival, but once there you can stay as long as you like. There’s a coffee kiosk and mobile loos, but we were lucky enough not to need either!”
