18th March 2025
A beautiful sunny morning with blue skies and a nip in the air for our walk.
Arriving at Bibury just before 10am, 13 of us, managed to take the last 3 parking spaces.
At the beginning of the walk, we made our way past the cottages along Arlington Row which are believed to have been built around 1380 as a monastic wool store and later converted into weavers' cottages in the 17th century. They are owned by the National Trust.
The walk was undulating and mostly over fields and through woods.
It was a popular walk with many walkers on the same route. One part of the footpath was closed due to the felling of diseased trees and the clearance of bracken and brambles.
We had plans to take refreshments at the café next to the Trout Farm, but discovered we were in 3-hour parking slots so had to leave and made our way back to Carterton.
The perfect walk on a perfect day.
Thank you to the car drivers. Pam
