January talk

We were pleased to welcome Liz Woolley to our meeting on 24 January to give a talk on Child Labour in Rural Oxfordshire during the nineteenth century. Members I spoke to after the meeting were agreed that it was a very entertaining and enlightening talk by a very good speaker. Much of the message was uncomfortable to hear but we felt it was good to hear of conditions that our forebears possibly had to endure. The talk also sparked memories from some members of their life when young. The talk was followed by tea, or coffee, and biscits.
