From Stow-on-the-Wold to Bourton-on-the-Water, approx 4.5 miles.
This was the first linear walk that we have done this year.
14 members drove / met at Tesco’s car park in Stow for the start of the walk.
It was a dull morning but dry.
The first ¾ of a mile was pavement walking and then it was across fields on mostly good footpaths. There was one steep descent opening out onto a path to an Equine Centre with fields of sheep and horses on either side. The route took us past Hyde Mill, through the paddock at Nether Swell Manor, Lower Slaughter and eventually to St Lawrence Church and the high street in Bourton on the Water. The were fields of wildflowers in colour. There was an hour to spare until the bus arrived to take us back to Stow, in that time we split the group and went to various cafes for lunch. We started on the Gloucestershire Way footpath and also walked on the Heart of England Way, MacMillian Way. Monarchs Way and the Wardens Way, many long-distance footpaths. It was a thoroughly nice walk in the countryside with great company. Thank you to the car drivers. Pam
