Outing to Tulleys Tulip Fields, Warwickshire on Friday 17th April 2026

This was a very popular outing that required 2 coaches.

We were met at Tulleys by two welcomers who stamped our hands so that we were able to go in and out of the fields at our leisure.

There were over 100 different varieties of Tulip and what a spectacular sight they were.

Absolutely stunning. There were a few photo opportunities including under a windmill.

Brightly coloured Dutch style buildings were selling refreshment’s including Dutch Street food plus “Poffertjies” Dutch pancakes

A few yards away from the Tulip fields were small individual shops and a garden centre selling a variety of goods.  Unfortunately, there were not any bulbs on sale. Also, there was a café where several of the party had lunch.

At the end of the season the bulbs get mulched and each year fresh ones are brough in from Holland.

From the shopping village we boarded our coach and drove approx ½ a mile to see a string of locks called “the stairway to Heaven” which were on the Grand Union Canal.  There were 21 locks in total. Many of the group walked the towpath to see the locks, unfortunately we only reached halfway,  lock 11, before turning round and made our way to the café before boarding our coach for the homeward journey.  The cafe had amazing items hanging from the ceiling.

A superb day out with something for everyone and it stayed dry!  Pam. Photos by David and Pam
