This was a 3-mile circular walk round Stanton Park and Nature Reserve.
The walk was signed and easy walking terrain. It is a great place to visit with Children, and Adults as well.
Stanton Park is owned by Swindon Borough Council. The park contains a Scheduled Ancient Monument- the site of a Roman Villa (although there are no visible remains)
The park provides an exceptionally wide range of habitats that include:
These habitats are home to a large variety of wildlife, including:
birds of prey, wildfowl, amphibians, invertebrates, roe deer and badgers, owls, bats and moths.
They now have a café and hold art exhibitions and classes. All round the park are wooden carvings, mainly animals.
After the walk all 19 of us had refreshments at Stanton House Hotel, which was quite plush with lovely views over the parkland.
Thanks to all the car drivers. Pam
