Short Walk on Tuesday 8th July 2025, 3-mile circular walk starting from Thrupp

17 members for this walk, travelled to Thrupp in 4 cars.  The location where we started the walk from was very pleasant on this sunny warm day.  We needed to cross the swing bridge to get into the car park and that is quite an experience.

The walk was alongside the canal, which had a very long line of parked barges.  The walk was on footpaths across fields,1 with oats, 1 with barley and 1 with wheat. There was a lovely blue flower in the fields, we guessed either it was flax or cornflowers, not sure if either guess was correct. The poppies were also starting o join them.   There were several trains on the long straight railway lines. We walked past St Marys Church Kidlington, past a row of houses dating back to 1671 which we thought may have been Alms-houses; Next through a nature reserve, several fields which were being cut and then quite a way through woods back to the cars. After the walk we enjoyed refreshments at Annie’s tea rooms.  Worth a visit to the café and a gentle walk alongside the canal.  Thank you to the car drivers. Pam
