I don’t know how she does it, yet another trip where the weather was great.
We set out on time the traffic was good to us, taking just 2 hours and 20 minutes to reach Beaulieu.
The BBC World Gardeners Show was very good, well laid out and easy to stroll around. Although the show was busy, it was not frenetic like the RHS Shows at Malvern.
Beaulieu is a beautiful place and there is lots to do other than the garden show.
The National Transport Museum is full of vehicles from over the ages, from buses to cars, bikes (motor and push) racing cars, caravans, and film shows and information boards depicting our transport heritage. There is also a special display area showing vehicles from the movies. Those that visited the museum that had never been before were astonished by it.
Lots tried the Monorail, and although only an 8-minute journey, were well pleased that they had a trip, especially the birds eye view as we travelled through the motor museum.
There is also the Monastery, Palace, Gardens, and Orchard. The palace has recently been renovated and all agreed it was absolutely fabulous and greatly improved by the staff all being in period costume from a century or so ago.
Alas, come 3 o’clock it was time to return home. For traffic reasons we needed to exit via Beaulieu village. What a gorgeous place that is, the river and surrounding greens makes a very pleasant place to laze away a sunny afternoon. The presence of some New Forest Ponies and Donkey’s wandering around and ignoring the people just made the whole place very tranquil.
A quick journey home, a grand day out.
