On a cold and frosty morning 14 members gathered for the walk, all dressed in several layers of clothes, most with hats and gloves. We left Carterton via Alvescot Road and made our way to the driveway at Kens Farm. After climbing a stile into the fields, we kept in the same direction of several fields until we came to Shilton Church. The fields were remarkably dry (and frozen) so this made for easy walking. We climb over the stone stile into the churchyard and proceeded to Shilton forge. The water was just over 2ft high but there were not any floods. We climbed the hill out of Shilton and made our way to Carterton football club. We joined Kilkenny Park via one of the many entries. Leaving the park, we walked along the pavements to Carterton Community Centre, and continued in the same direction, crossed a road and followed the footpath to the main Carterton-Brize Norton Road. Here we crossed the road into Stanmore Crescent, zig zagged amongst the new housing estate back into Carterton. By the time we reached our cars the sun was shining and we all felt much warmer. This was quite a refreshing walk. Pam
